Why Machines Will Never Rule The World written by Jobst Landgrebe and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-08-12 with Philosophy categories.

The book’s core argument is that an artificial intelligence that could equal or exceed human intelligence—sometimes called artificial general intelligence (AGI)—is for mathematical reasons impossible. It offers two specific reasons for this claim: Human intelligence is a capability of a complex dynamic system—the human brain and central nervous system. Systems of this sort cannot be modelled mathematically in a way that allows them to operate inside a computer. In supporting their claim, the authors, Jobst Landgrebe and Barry Smith, marshal evidence from mathematics, physics, computer science, philosophy, linguistics, and biology, setting up their book around three central questions: What are the essential marks of human intelligence? What is it that researchers try to do when they attempt to achieve "artificial intelligence" (AI)? And why, after more than 50 years, are our most common interactions with AI, for example with our bank’s computers, still so unsatisfactory? Landgrebe and Smith show how a widespread fear about AI’s potential to bring about radical changes in the nature of human beings and in the human social order is founded on an error. There is still, as they demonstrate in a final chapter, a great deal that AI can achieve which will benefit humanity. But these benefits will be achieved without the aid of systems that are more powerful than humans, which are as impossible as AI systems that are intrinsically "evil" or able to "will" a takeover of human society.

Recent results and ongoing research in Artificial Intelligence are described in this book, with emphasis on fundamental questions in several key areas: machine learning, neural networks, automated reasoning, natural language processing, and logic methods in AI. There are also more applied papers in the fields of vision, architectures for KBS, expert systems and intelligent tutoring systems. One of the changes since AIMSA'90 has been the increased numbers of papers submitted in the fields of machine learning, neural networks and hybrid systems. One of the special features of the AIMSA series of conferences is their coverage of work across both Eastern and Western Europe and the former Soviet Union as well as papers from North America. AIMSA'92 is no exception and this volume provides a unique multi-cultural view of AI.

This book presents a unique, understandable view of machine learning using many practical examples and access to free professional software and open source code. The user-friendly software can immediately be used to apply everything you learn in the book without the need for programming. After an introduction to machine learning and artificial intelligence, the chapters in Part II present deeper explanations of machine learning algorithms, performance evaluation of machine learning models, and how to consider data in machine learning environments. In Part III the author explains automatic speech recognition, and in Part IV biometrics recognition, face- and speaker-recognition. By Part V the author can then explain machine learning by example, he offers cases from real-world applications, problems, and techniques, such as anomaly detection and root cause analyses, business process improvement, detecting and predicting diseases, recommendation AI, several engineering applications, predictive maintenance, automatically classifying datasets, dimensionality reduction, and image recognition. Finally, in Part VI he offers a detailed explanation of the AI-TOOLKIT, software he developed that allows the reader to test and study the examples in the book and the application of machine learning in professional environments. The author introduces core machine learning concepts and supports these with practical examples of their use, so professionals will appreciate his approach and use the book for self-study. It will also be useful as a supplementary resource for advanced undergraduate and graduate courses on machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Entering the field of artificial intelligence and data science can seem daunting to beginners with little to no prior background, especially those with no programming experience. The concepts used in self-driving cars and virtual assistants like Amazon’s Alexa may seem very complex and difficult to grasp. The aim of Artificial Intelligence in Python is to make AI accessible and easy to understand for people with little to no programming experience though practical exercises. Newcomers will gain the necessary knowledge on how to create such systems, which are capable of executing tasks that require some form of human-like intelligence. This book introduces readers to various topics and examples of programming in Python, as well as key concepts in artificial intelligence. Python programming skills will be imparted as we go along. Concepts and code snippets will be covered in a step-by-step manner, to guide and instill confidence in beginners. Complex subjects in deep learning and machine learning will be broken down into easy-to-digest content and examples. Artificial intelligence implementations will also be shared, allowing beginners to generate their own artificial intelligence algorithms for reinforcement learning, style transfer, chatbots, speech, and natural language processing.

Understanding Artificial IntelligenceWhat is artificial intelligence with examples? What exactly is artificial intelligence? It's about having a machine that can reach conclusions in a similar way to a human. That is, it can take examples and learn from them to improve the accuracy of its future conclusions. A good example of that is learning what a dog looks like from photographs of Labradors, poodles, and pit bulls and then later, when shown a picture of a Chihuahua, being able to identify that as being another breed of dog. The machine can reach a new, accurate, conclusion based on what it has learned in the past.Today, we are still a long way from creating machines that are as capable as humans. But the current machines are getting very good at specific applications. The important thing to understand about artificial intelligence is that the machine is not programmed with all the possible answers but uses what it has learned to create new answers. What makes a machine "intelligent"?It's a combination of things. The machine is weighing up a collection of possibilities for an answer based on the data it was trained on and previous answers it has given. The machine is also learning so that over time the accuracy of its results improves.Computer scientists have been working on developing this type of program for probably five decades. The reason we hear so much about artificial intelligence now is that powerful computers have become very cheap and small, and computer scientists have been able to develop better programs that can make use of that power. How do you "teach" AI to a machine?Say we have an AI machine for selecting fruit with bad bits. We would start by showing the machine a large amount of fruit and telling it which ones were good and bad. The machine doesn't store all those images and then look at a new piece of fruit and compare it to all those images. Instead the software starts to characterize what kind of things make the image of a piece of fruit good or bad. It could be that it has some discolored regions or some cuts. The software then looks at a new piece of fruit and if it identifies discolored regions anywhere on the fruit it can assign a probability to the fruit being bad............................
