In "Prehistoric Men," Robert J. Braidwood presents an exhaustive examination of human societies before the dawn of recorded history, utilizing archaeological evidence to reconstruct their daily lives, social structures, and technological advancements. Braidwood's literary style is characterized by a thorough academic rigor merged with accessible prose, enriching the reader's understanding of the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods. The book contributes to the growing discourse on prehistory by situating the development of early human communities within broader cultural and environmental contexts, showcasing the intricate relationship between humans and their habitats. As a pioneering figure in the field of archaeology, Braidwood's extensive fieldwork in the Middle East, particularly in areas like ancient Mesopotamia, profoundly influenced his understanding of early human behavior and adaptive strategies. His academic journey reflects a deep engagement with the artifacts, which inspired him to demystify the complexities of prehistoric life for a wider audience, bridging the gaps between scientific inquiry and human narratives. The subject of the present volume, in essence is the hand and hand's extensions. We cannot insist too strongly that in the evolution of life the "decisive moment" arrived when a living being – who became man – adopted the erect attitude, thus freeing his hands, and when the industrious activity was inauguarted which this freedom made possible. In the use of the hand as an instrument, we have the manifestation of an important physical progress and the promise of further progress.

This book is one of a kind. It traces the history of human awareness of God and belief back to its earliest roots, long before the Bible, the Koran, the Upanishads and other writings. It shows how the foundation for belief in God was contained within the instant of creation itself. Scientists call this the big bang. It shows that as the universe developed there came a point in human development where we had the capability to begin to be aware of an afterlife. These ideas were primitive by our standards today but they served to create a solid foundation for increasing complex and more thorough understandings of who God is and our relationship with Him. This book covers the well known axial age where there was a watershed or flood of prophets and holy men who advanced understandings of both philosophy and theology and science in the hundreds of years before the coming of Jesus Christ. In a real sense they prepared the way for God’s son and His gospel. It is these men who changed the course of human understanding of God with new revolutionary ideas that advanced the self revelation of God to humankind. The last part of the book looks at religion today and how we got here and ends with God’s view of humanity as we constantly strive toward God on our individual spiritual journeys.

Dag Prawitz On Proofs And Meaning written by Heinrich Wansing and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-27 with Philosophy categories.
This volume is dedicated to Prof. Dag Prawitz and his outstanding contributions to philosophical and mathematical logic. Prawitz's eminent contributions to structural proof theory, or general proof theory, as he calls it, and inference-based meaning theories have been extremely influential in the development of modern proof theory and anti-realistic semantics. In particular, Prawitz is the main author on natural deduction in addition to Gerhard Gentzen, who defined natural deduction in his PhD thesis published in 1934. The book opens with an introductory paper that surveys Prawitz's numerous contributions to proof theory and proof-theoretic semantics and puts his work into a somewhat broader perspective, both historically and systematically. Chapters include either in-depth studies of certain aspects of Dag Prawitz's work or address open research problems that are concerned with core issues in structural proof theory and range from philosophical essays to papers of a mathematical nature. Investigations into the necessity of thought and the theory of grounds and computational justifications as well as an examination of Prawitz's conception of the validity of inferences in the light of three “dogmas of proof-theoretic semantics” are included. More formal papers deal with the constructive behaviour of fragments of classical logic and fragments of the modal logic S4 among other topics. In addition, there are chapters about inversion principles, normalization of p roofs, and the notion of proof-theoretic harmony and other areas of a more mathematical persuasion. Dag Prawitz also writes a chapter in which he explains his current views on the epistemic dimension of proofs and addresses the question why some inferences succeed in conferring evidence on their conclusions when applied to premises for which one already possesses evidence.
