The leading introduction to computer algorithms in use today, including fifty algorithms every programmer should know Princeton Computer Science professors, Robert Sedgewick and Kevin Wayne, survey the most important computer algorithms in use and of interest to anyone working in science, mathematics, and engineering, and those who use computation in the liberal arts. They provide a full treatment of data structures and algorithms for key areas that enable you to confidently implement, debug, and put them to work in any computational environment. Fundamentals: Basic programming models Data abstraction Bags, queues, and stacks Analysis of algorithms Sorting Elementary sorts Mergesort Quicksort Priority queues Applications Graphs Undirected graphs Directed graphs Minimum spanning trees Shortest paths Strings String sorts Tries Substring search Regular expressions Data compression These algorithms are generally ingenious creations that, remarkably, can each be expressed in just a dozen or two lines of code. As a group, they represent problem-solving power of amazing scope. They have enabled the construction of computational artifacts, the solution of scientific problems, and the development of commercial applications that would not have been feasible without them.

Combinatorial Algorithms written by Donald L. Kreher and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998-12-18 with Mathematics categories.
This textbook thoroughly outlines combinatorial algorithms for generation, enumeration, and search. Topics include backtracking and heuristic search methods applied to various combinatorial structures, such as: Combinations Permutations Graphs Designs Many classical areas are covered as well as new research topics not included in most existing texts, such as: Group algorithms Graph isomorphism Hill-climbing Heuristic search algorithms This work serves as an exceptional textbook for a modern course in combinatorial algorithms, providing a unified and focused collection of recent topics of interest in the area. The authors, synthesizing material that can only be found scattered through many different sources, introduce the most important combinatorial algorithmic techniques - thus creating an accessible, comprehensive text that students of mathematics, electrical engineering, and computer science can understand without needing a prior course on combinatorics.

In the tradition of Real World Algorithms: A Beginner's Guide, Panos Louridas is back to introduce algorithms in an accessible manner, utilizing various examples to explain not just what algorithms are but how they work. Digital technology runs on algorithms, sets of instructions that describe how to do something efficiently. Application areas range from search engines to tournament scheduling, DNA sequencing, and machine learning. Arguing that every educated person today needs to have some understanding of algorithms and what they do, in this volume in the MIT Press Essential Knowledge series, Panos Louridas offers an introduction to algorithms that is accessible to the nonspecialist reader. Louridas explains not just what algorithms are but also how they work, offering a wide range of examples and keeping mathematics to a minimum.

This book contains a collection of survey papers in the areas of algorithms, lan guages and complexity, the three areas in which Professor Ronald V. Book has made significant contributions. As a fonner student and a co-author who have been influenced by him directly, we would like to dedicate this book to Professor Ronald V. Book to honor and celebrate his sixtieth birthday. Professor Book initiated his brilliant academic career in 1958, graduating from Grinnell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 1960 and a Master of Arts degree in 1964 both from Wesleyan University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Harvard University in 1969, under the guidance of Professor Sheila A. Greibach. Professor Book's research in discrete mathematics and theoretical com puter science is reflected in more than 150 scientific publications. These works have made a strong impact on the development of several areas of theoretical computer science. A more detailed summary of his scientific research appears in this volume separately.

"This volume presents the proceedings of the Seventh International Workshop on Distributed Algorithms (WDAG 93), held in Lausanne, Switzerland, September 1993. It contains 22 papers selected from 72 submissions. The selection was based on originality, quality, and relevance to the field of distributed computing: 6 papers are from Europe, 13 from North America, and 3 from the Middle East. The papers discuss topics from all areas of distributed computing and their applications, including distributed algorithms for control and communication, fault-tolerant distributed algorithms, network protocols, algorithms for managing replicated data, protocols for real-time distributed systems, issues of asynchrony, synchrony and real-time, mechanisms for security in distributed systems, techniques for the design and analysis of distributed algorithms, distributed database techniques, distributed combinatorial and optimization algorithms, and distributed graph algorithms."--PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE.
