Several years ago, after many years of writing nonfiction, I decided to write a novel-a medical thriller in the mold of Robin Cook, Michael Crichton, and Michael Palmer. The problem was that, although I knew how to write and had received a number of awards for nonfiction works, I didn't know the how to write fiction. So, before putting fingers to keyboard I did a thorough search of the literature, which included reading numerous books and hundreds of website articles. What I discovered was that there simply wasn't one good source from which to learn the craft of writing genre fiction. "Writing Genre Fiction: A Guide to the Craft" is the book I was looking for when I set out on my quest to learn how to write fiction. It is an attempt to share what I learned from my research. It covers the six key elements of genre fiction; the various genres and subgenres; a large number of genre-fiction writing techniques; plot, subplots, and parallel plots; structure; scene and sequel; characterization; dialogue; emotions; and body language. It also covers additional information about copyrighting and plagiarism, where to get ideas, manuscript formatting and revision, and query letters and synopses. In addition, an appendix covers a large number of grammar tips.

How to Build Plots That Grab Your Readers and Won't Let Go - By Building and Integrating Characters, Story Arcs, and Engaging Themes Ever wonder what makes a great book or movie different from a pitiful excuse for entertainment? Mostly, it starts with a plot. But what makes a plot work? From months of my own studying the vast numbers of approaches to plotting, it's clear that there is still a wide gulf between the mechanics of a plot and having a working framework usable for any writer. This led to the study of two authors who had already done their own studies of which plots made successful entertainment, and actually built their own still-popular plot generators based on this knowledge. Many well-known and obscure writers have used these methods instead of being dogged by ""writer's block."" The anwers to what makes a great plot are simple and few. The bonus in this book is giving you your own plot generator to help you when you're stuck. Get Your Copy Today.

Law Narrative And Masterplot written by Chris Bevan and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-06-13 with Law categories.
The book brings together a range of socio-legal and law and humanities scholars to elaborate and explore the idea of the legal ‘masterplot’. There is a class of narrative, sometimes referred to as ‘masterplot’ or ‘metanarrative’, that stands above the plethora of other stories, plots, and myths that may be found in law. This book focuses on the masterplot concept as providing a productive yet largely under-explored way of seeing, understanding, and responding to legal controversies and socio-legal problems. Masterplots may be understood as those prevalent and enduring ideas and narratives that form the basis of expectations, assumptions, stereotypes, and prejudices. In legal contexts, masterplots give shape and significance to particular experiences or issues. In aligning with them, legal arguments, judgments, and reforms gain acceptability and can be presented as authoritative, proportionate, and legitimate. Reflecting, from different legal perspectives and subdisciplines, on the masterplots at play in our current legal frameworks, this collection illuminates the often-hidden ways in which law functions. This book will appeal to students and scholars of socio-legal studies, sociology, social policy, and humanities approaches to law.
