Soft-Switching Technology for Three-phase Power Electronics Converters Discover foundational and advanced topics in soft-switching technology, including ZVS three-phase conversion In Soft-Switching Technology for Three-phase Power Electronics Converters, an expert team of researchers delivers a comprehensive exploration of soft-switching three-phase converters for applications including renewable energy and distribution power systems, AC power sources, UPS, motor drives, battery chargers, and more. The authors begin with an introduction to the fundamentals of the technology, providing the basic knowledge necessary for readers to understand the following articles. The book goes on to discuss three-phase rectifiers and three-phase grid inverters. It offers prototypes and experiments of each type of technology. Finally, the authors describe the impact of silicon carbide devices on soft-switching three-phase converters, studying the improvement in efficiency and power density created via the introduction of silicon carbide devices. Throughout, the authors put a special focus on a family of zero-voltage switching (ZVS) three-phase converters and related pulse width modulation (PWM) schemes. The book also includes: A thorough introduction to soft-switching techniques, including the classification of soft-switching for three phase converter topologies, soft-switching types and a generic soft-switching pulse-width-modulation known as Edge-Aligned PWM A comprehensive exploration of classical soft-switching three-phase converters, including the switching of power semiconductor devices and DC and AC side resonance Practical discussions of ZVS space vector modulation for three-phase converters, including the three-phase converter commutation process In-depth examinations of three-phase rectifiers with compound active clamping circuits Perfect for researchers, scientists, professional engineers, and undergraduate and graduate students studying or working in power electronics, Soft-Switching Technology for Three-phase Power Electronics Converters is also a must-read resource for research and development engineers involved with the design and development of power electronics.

Today, as the large international genome sequence projects are gaining a great amount of public attention and huge sequence data bases are created it be comes more and more obvious that we are very limited in our ability to access functional data for the gene products -the proteins, in particular for enzymes. Those data are inherently very difficult to collect, interpret and standardize as they are highly distributed among journals from different fields and are often sub ject to experimental conditions. Nevertheless a systematic collection is essential for our interpretation of the genome information and more so for possible appli cations of that knowledge in the fields of medicine, agriculture, etc .. Recent pro gress on enzyme immobilization, enzyme production, enzyme inhibition, coen zyme regeneration and enzyme engineering has opened up fascinating new fields for the potential application of enzymes in a large range of different areas. It is the functional profile of an enzyme that enables a biologist of physician to analyze a metabolic pathway and its disturbance; it is the substrate specificity of an enzyme which tells an analytical biochemist how to design an assay; it is the stability, specificity and efficiency of an enzyme which determines its usefulness in the biotechnical transformation of a molecule. And the sum of all these data will have to be considered when the designer of artificial biocatalysts has to choose the optimum prototype to start with.

Statistical Robust Design written by Magnus Arner and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-28 with Mathematics categories.
A UNIQUELY PRACTICAL APPROACH TO ROBUST DESIGN FROM A STATISTICAL AND ENGINEERING PERSPECTIVE Variation in environment, usage conditions, and the manufacturing process has long presented a challenge in product engineering, and reducing variation is universally recognized as a key to improving reliability and productivity. One key and cost-effective way to achieve this is by robust design – making the product as insensitive as possible to variation. With Design for Six Sigma training programs primarily in mind, the author of this book offers practical examples that will help to guide product engineers through every stage of experimental design: formulating problems, planning experiments, and analysing data. He discusses both physical and virtual techniques, and includes numerous exercises and solutions that make the book an ideal resource for teaching or self-study. • Presents a practical approach to robust design through design of experiments. • Offers a balance between statistical and industrial aspects of robust design. • Includes practical exercises, making the book useful for teaching. • Covers both physical and virtual approaches to robust design. • Supported by an accompanying website (www.wiley/com/go/robust) featuring MATLAB® scripts and solutions to exercises. • Written by an experienced industrial design practitioner. This book’s state of the art perspective will be of benefit to practitioners of robust design in industry, consultants providing training in Design for Six Sigma, and quality engineers. It will also be a valuable resource for specialized university courses in statistics or quality engineering.

Babies of women with diabetes are nearly five times more likely to be stillborn and almost three times more likely to die in the first three months. The incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus in the U.S. is high—between 3 and 7 percent—and rising. The condition is often complicated by other risk factors such as obesity and heart disease. The Textbook of Diabetes and Pregnancy presents a comprehensive review of the science, clinical management, and medical implications of gestational diabetes mellitus, a condition with serious consequences that is on the increase in all developed societies. This new edition supports the latest initiatives and strategies of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) and adds chapters on noncommunicable diseases, obesity, bariatric surgery, and epidemiology outside Western cultures. Written by a cadre of experts, the book provides a comprehensive, authoritative, and international view of gestational diabetes mellitus and will be invaluable to maternal-fetal medicine specialists, diabetologists, neonatologists, and a growing number of gynecologists and general physicians concerned with the management of noncommunicable diseases in pregnancy.

This book provides up-to-date information on all aspects of autoimmune pancreatitis, a unique form of pancreatitis characterized clinically by frequent presentation with obstructive jaundice and dramatic response to steroids, histologically by a lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate with fibrosis, and radiologically by pancreatic enlargement. Current concepts regarding the disease and its classification into subtypes 1 and 2 are explained, and clinical, serological, and histopathological findings are carefully described. Imaging features on all the relevant modalities are illustrated, covering both the pancreas and other involved organs. Current and emerging therapeutic strategies, including steroids, immunomodulatory drugs, and rituximab, are then discussed. The reader will find the book to be an excellent aid to the diagnosis of autoimmune pancreatitis and its differentiation from pancreatobiliary malignancies, as well as a clear guide to treatment.
