This book I wrote delves into my life living with diabetes and navigating a world inhabited by people with disabilities. It touches on friends, family, loved ones, fame, fortune, riches, and the search for cures for all diseases--those naturally occurring and those man-made. It's a killer in a world created by God and complicated by human intervention. This book, a piece of my heart and soul, is offered to the world for reading, rating, loving, cherishing, laughing, crying, enjoying, and wondering about for days, a lifetime, forever. It's a legacy of books, a history left behind for family, friends, loved ones, and everyone in the world to cherish.

In 1941, on a farm outside Troy, Missouri, a boy named Homer Page was born. Blind since birth, Homer has lived his life in vibrant determination to be a part of the game. He has known success and failure, felt hope and heartache, and experienced joy and despair. He struggled to find the courage to act and the wisdom to accept what he could not change. Through it all, he never let circumstances become limitations. Homer received two letters in wrestling from the University of Missouri, earned his doctorate from the University of Chicago, and went on to teach at the University of Colorado. He later pursued and enjoyed a career in elective office. He is a leader in the disability rights movement and has lectured on the topic of the rehabilitation of the blind in both Sweden and Poland. In this memoir, he shares the story of his lifethe challenges and disappointments that he overcame on the way to a meaningful and successful personal and professional career. But he also tells a larger story about living with disability in mainstream America. Homer explores the joy and pain that he and others have experienced as American society has changed over the past seventy years. Most of all, however, his is the story of a realist who refuses to give up. In the end, it is a story of the affirmation of life and the joy of living.

How did you spend the long, hot, World Cup summer of 2018? For Jonathan Northcroft, chief football writer of The Sunday Times, it was 35 unforgettable days spent criss-crossing Russia, covering the biggest sporting event on the planet. He reported on a new England team: young, daring and successful both on the pitch, where they defied expectations to reach the semi-final, and off it, where they took on reporters in a darts challenge. He discovered a different Russia to the hostile state he was warned about in pre-tournament security briefings: open, friendly and football mad. And he experienced the rush of working as a football writer at the very top of the game: meeting the players, going to the games, and battling the deadlines. This is his personal account of a month when we dropped everything to watch the best World Cup for a generation.

In recent times, Technology (T), Innovation (I) and Entrepreneurship (E) have become matters of critical importance to the economic and competitve success of nations, firms, and startups. Yet a depressingly large number of people--politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, engineers, academics--are still locked up in the 'isms' and managerial mindsets of the last century. One reason is the paucity of academic books addressing TIE issues in a manner empathetic to the concerns of developed as well as developing societies. This book is the first part of a new textbook trilogy that seeks to fill this gap. A special feature is the inclusion of comparative insights derived by the author during his academic pursuits in India, the UK, Hong Kong/China, and the USA. Part I (this book) examines TIE interactions from the perspectives of the world and nation-building. Parts II and III will do the same from the perspectives of individual firms and startups respectively.

Climate change and ecological instability have the potential to disrupt human societies and their futures. Cultural, social and ethical life in all societies is directed towards a future that can never be observed, and never be directly acted upon, and yet is always interacting with us. Thinking and acting towards the future involves efforts of imagination that are linked to our sense of being in the world and the ecological pressures we experience. The three key ideas of this book – ecologies, ontologies and mythologies – help us understand the ways people in many different societies attempt to predict and shape their futures. Each chapter places a different emphasis on the linked domains of environmental change, embodied experience, myth and fantasy, politics, technology and intellectual reflection, in relation to imagined futures. The diverse geographic scope of the chapters includes rural Nepal, the islands of the Pacific Ocean, Sweden, coastal Scotland, North America, and remote, rural and urban Australia. This book will appeal to researchers and students in anthropology, sociology, environmental studies, cultural studies, psychology and politics.
