Self is the enemy of the soul. The Holy Spirit purges the soul of sin when he is invited by you. He also keeps a close surveillance on self because it will wreak havoc of the soul. Self is the one that sins; the real you (inner man) does not sin at all because he is Christlike. Self is embedded in the soul of every human being on earth. You cannot expel self from the soul by pleading the blood of Jesus or by praying. It has a permanent fixture in the soul or outside of the soul. When God calls you home, self goes back to dust forever.
