Audio Branding written by Kai Bronner and has been published by Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with (Audio- ) Visuelle Kommunikation categories.

Audio branding - also known as sound branding or sonic branding - describes brand communication through sound, using brand sound elements like an audio logo, a brand song, or a brand voice. So far, time and money have been spent mostly on visual branding. Sound hasn't been heavily treated as a brand element that needs to be designed. The emergence of new media and devices with built-in audio delivery - such as podcasts, audiobooks, and smartphones - expands the opportunities for audio branding. This also increases the risks of causing noise pollution and a sonic mess. Consequently, the use of sound in brand communication demands careful attention. The articles in this book deal with functions of sound, the basics and principles of brand communication and audio branding, multi-sensory aspects of brand communication, and legal matters concerning soundmarks. In case studies on projects with international brands, leading experts provide insight into what audio branding actually means in practice. This compilation is based on the German publication Audio-Branding, that was released in 2007.

Communication Acoustics written by Ville Pulkki and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-04-30 with Technology & Engineering categories.

In communication acoustics, the communication channel consists of a sound source, a channel (acoustic and/or electric) and finally the receiver: the human auditory system, a complex and intricate system that shapes the way sound is heard. Thus, when developing techniques in communication acoustics, such as in speech, audio and aided hearing, it is important to understand the time–frequency–space resolution of hearing. This book facilitates the reader’s understanding and development of speech and audio techniques based on our knowledge of the auditory perceptual mechanisms by introducing the physical, signal-processing and psychophysical background to communication acoustics. It then provides a detailed explanation of sound technologies where a human listener is involved, including audio and speech techniques, sound quality measurement, hearing aids and audiology. Key features: Explains perceptually-based audio: the authors take a detailed but accessible engineering perspective on sound and hearing with a focus on the human place in the audio communications signal chain, from psychoacoustics and audiology to optimizing digital signal processing for human listening. Presents a wide overview of speech, from the human production of speech sounds and basics of phonetics to major speech technologies, recognition and synthesis of speech and methods for speech quality evaluation. Includes MATLAB examples that serve as an excellent basis for the reader’s own investigations into communication acoustics interaction schemes which intuitively combine touch, vision and voice for lifelike interactions.

This volume examines fish sounds that have a proven signal function, as well as sounds assumed to have evolved for communication purposes. It provides an overview of the mechanisms, evolution and neurobiology behind sound production in fishes, and discusses the role of fish sounds in behavior with a special focus on choice of mate, sex-specific and age-specific signaling. Furthermore, it highlights the ontogenetic development of sound communication and ecoacoustical conditions in fish habitats and the influence of hormones on vocal production and sound detection. Sound Communication in Fishes offers a must-have compendium for lecturers, researchers and students working in the fields of animal communication, fish biology, neurobiology and animal behavior.

Nomenclature 4.0 for Museum Cataloging is an updated and expanded edition of Robert G. Chenhall’s system for classifying human-made objects, originally published in 1978. The Chenhall system is the standard cataloging tool for thousands of museums and historical organizations across the United States and Canada. For this fourth edition, hundreds of new terms have been added, and every category, class, sub-class, and object term has been reviewed and revised as needed by a professional task force appointed by the American Association for State and Local History. This new edition features crucial revisions including: • A revised and updated users’ guide with new tips and advice • An expanded controlled vocabulary featuring nearly 950 new preferred terms • 475 more non-preferred terms in the index • An expanded and reorganized section on water transportation • Expanded coverage of exchange media, digital collections, electronic devices, archaeological and ethnographic objects, and more AASLH has developed a free online community for all users and potential users of Nomenclature 4.
