Theatre is traditionally considered a live medium but its ‘liveness’ can no longer simply be taken for granted in view of the increasing mediatisation of the stage. Drawing on theories of intermediality, Liveness on Stage explores how performances that incorporate film or video self-reflexively stage and challenge their own liveness by contrasting or approximating live and mediatised action. To illustrate this, the monograph investigates key aspects such as ‘ephemerality’, ‘co-presence’, ‘unpredictability’, ‘interaction’ and ‘realistic representation’ and highlights their significance for re-evaluating received notions of liveness. The analysis is based on productions by Gob Squad, Forkbeard Fantasy, Station House Opera, Proto-type Theater, Tim Etchells and Mary Oliver. In their playful approaches these practitioners predominantly present such media combination as a means of cross-fertilisation rather than as an antagonism between liveness and mediatisation. Combining an original theoretical approach with an in-depth analysis of the selected productions, this study will appeal to scholars and practitioners of theatre and performance as well as to those researching intermedial phenomena.

Poetry In The Digital Age written by Claudia Benthien and has been published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-10-14 with Social Science categories.

As a multifaceted and intermedial phenomenon, poetry in the digital age not only demands a rethinking and expansion of the traditional paradigms of literary studies but also attracts increasing attention from other humanities. This interdisciplinary handbook is thus addressed both to literary scholars and to the broadest academic audience interested in contemporary poetry research. It offers 50 contributions by an international collective of authors that highlight the diversity of contemporary poetry, examining it from a wide variety of complementing theoretical and methodological angles. The handbook focuses on contemporary modes of poetry presentation that are often located beyond the book, e.g., on stages, in public spaces, as multi- as well as transmedia publications, or on digital platforms. Such intermedial poetic practices, which may supplement poetic language with elements borrowed from music, visual art, cinema, or theater and performance, are transforming the forms and functions of poetry. It four parts thus (1) adapt established concepts and parameters of poetry research to the digital age, (2) explore established genres and emerging formats, (3) introduce interdisciplinary perspectives and new research fields, and (4) engage in current debates.

This volume contains the papers presented at CONCUR 2005, the 16th - ternational Conference on Concurrency Theory. The purpose of the CONCUR series of conferences is to bring together researchers, developers, and students in order to advance the theory of concurrency and to promote its applications. This year’s conference was in San Francisco, California, from August 23 to August 26. We received 100 submissions in response to a call for papers. Each subm- sionwasassignedto at leastthreemembers ofthe ProgramCommittee; in many cases, reviews were solicited from outside experts. The ProgramCommittee d- cussed the submissions electronically, judging them on their perceived imp- tance, originality, clarity, and appropriateness to the expected audience. The Program Committee selected 38 papers for presentation. Because of the format of the conference and the high number of submissions, many good papers could not be included. Although submissions werereadand evaluated, the papers that appear in this volume may di?er in form and contents from the corresponding submissions. It is expected that many of the papers will be further revised and submitted to refereed archival journals for publication.

Computer Aided Verification written by Edmund M. Clarke and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-10-02 with Mathematics categories.

This volume contains the proceedings of the second workshop on Computer Aided Verification, held at DIMACS, Rutgers University, June 18-21, 1990. Itfeatures theoretical results that lead to new or more powerful verification methods. Among these are advances in the use of binary decision diagrams, dense time, reductions based upon partial order representations and proof-checking in controller verification. The motivation for holding a workshop on computer aided verification was to bring together work on effective algorithms or methodologies for formal verification - as distinguished, say, from attributes of logics or formal languages. The considerable interest generated by the first workshop, held in Grenoble, June 1989 (see LNCS 407), prompted this second meeting. The general focus of this volume is on the problem of making formal verification feasible for various models of computation. Specific emphasis is on models associated with distributed programs, protocols, and digital circuits. The general test of algorithm feasibility is to embed it into a verification tool, and exercise that tool on realistic examples: the workshop included sessionsfor the demonstration of new verification tools.
