Dabei liegt der Fokus auf den letzten 2 Jahren. Weiterhin wird auf das Communitiy-Management eingegangen und wie man dieses aufbaut, pflegt und erweitert. Daraufhin betrachtet die Arbeit vor allem Instagram und weist verschiedene Kritikpunkte detailliert auf. Anschließend werden noch verschiedene Features der App vorgestellt, bevor ein Fazit gezogen und eine Aussicht auf die kommende Entwicklung gegeben wird.

Two billion people around the world use Instagram, but so far social scientists have done little research on the platform. Despite Instagram's reputation for shallowness, the ongoing self-presentation it demands confronts users with profound dilemmas. Who are we? What do we want to show of ourselves? What do we aspire to be?On Display is a book about how people remake their worlds through social media. John D. Boy and Justus Uitermark provide an encompassing account of how a platform that is unfailingly polished and ruthlessly judgmental shapes us and our environments. They examine how personalities, relations, social movements, urban subcultures, and city streets change as they are represented on Instagram. Interviews and ethnographic vignettes render an intimate account of the desires and anxieties that animate the platform. Just as importantly, Boy and Uitermark reveal how Instagram is implicated in social inequalities.While previous accounts have argued that social media promote polarization, On Display shows that this is not the case for Instagram where users belong to large and diverse networks, compelling them to take many, often contradictory expectations into account. Vor allem diese Generation ist auf sozialen Netzwerken wie Instagram, TikTok und Co. unterwegs. Es gilt, diese von einer Marke, einem Produkt, einer Dienstleistung oder einem Unternehmen zu überzeugen und so einen Einfluss auf das Kaufverhalten auszuüben – dafür eignet sich die durch ihre vielseitigen Funktionen Platt-form Instagram: Werbung kann in Form einer kurzen Story, als Feed-Post oder, wenn es ausführlicher sein soll, als sogenanntes IGTV (Instagram Video) veröffentlicht und vor allem durch die User verbreitet, gespeichert, kommentiert und geliked werden. Zur strategischen Kommunikation und um in den direkten und effektiven Dialog mit der Zielgruppe zu treten, sind Social-Media-Influencer (SMI) von erheblichem Nutzen für Marketing–Experten. Das von den Followern bereits aufgebaute Vertrauen und die bestehende Sympathie sind wirksame Faktoren für erfolgreiches Marketing, da gerade die Generation der Digital Natives (im folgenden auch Generation Z) ständig online und auf den sozialen Medien unterwegs ist. Dieses aufgebaute vertraute Gefühl und Sympathie zu den SMIs (Social-Media-Influencer) sind das Ergebnis einer parasozialen Beziehung (PSB), welche durch wiederholte parasoziale Interaktionen (PSI) entsteht. Das Konzept der parasozialen Interaktion wurde 1956 erstmals von Donald Horton und Richard Wohl definiert, jedoch stellt die Forschung der PSI und PSB zu Social-Media-Influencern eine Lücke dar.
