Joint Winner of the Carole Pateman Gender and Politics Book Prize 2023 https://auspsa.org.au/prizes-and-awards/carole-pateman-gender-and-politics-book-prize/ The Politics of Trauma and Integrity uses the lenses of gender and trauma to tell the stories of narratives testified by two contrasting Japanese "comfort women" survivors. Through an innovative interdisciplinary study of the politics of gendered memory and trauma in a historical context, with numerous primary sources for analysis including diaries, interviews, letters and oral testimonies, this book uncovers the life- or- death struggles of Japanese survivors in pursuit of public recognition as the victims of state violence against women. It is set within a gender history of modern Japan, supplemented by feminist activist methodology premised upon political agency that seeks social justice. The author’s analysis draws upon three key concepts: trauma, coherence of the self and integrity. Focusing upon the role of gender and trauma as the nexus between memory construction and identity formation in modern Japan, the author reveals these women’s relentless quest for their recovery and the creation of new identities. This book provides a better understanding of the victims of sexual violence and encourages readers to listen to the voice of trauma, as well as making a significant contribution to the existing research on the ongoing history of sexual violence against women in Japan, the rest of Asia and beyond. It will be of interest to scholars, researchers, activists and all who are concerned about the issue of women’s human rights. It provides supplementary reading and research material for history and politics courses relating to Japan and East Asia, memory, identity, trauma, gender, war and feminist activism. This book will also be beneficial to victims of sexual violence as well as the counsellors/ psychologists engaging with them. Living As If written by William R. Miller and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-10 with Religion categories.
What is faith? William R. Miller answers: "It is a way of looking at the world, at other people, and at ourselves. It is a vision not given so much as chosen. It is that by which we understand our past, live in the present, and create our future. It is Living as If, even and especially when we are not sure, and in so doing releasing a power that can transform ourselves and those we touch." Miller's fresh understanding of the meaning of faith--Living as If--and how it works can lead to a new approach to life and the fashioning of a more positive and hope-filled future. In this book he takes into account pertinent psychological findings, case histories, personal stories, and profound religious thought. As he explores the role of "as if" processes, he looks at self-concept, change, influence on others, healing, religious belief, and social change. Writing sensitively and sensibly, Miller sets an undeniably optimistic tone, emphasizing that within certain limits each person can design a course for the present and future as well.

In a world constantly evolving and presenting new challenges, Vossoughi argues that true freedom can only be attained through reprograming your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. While many individuals tend to align their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with external circumstances beyond their control, Arash challenges this approach. He firmly believes that to effect meaningful change in one's life, it's imperative to align those thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with the new reality one aspires to create. This book is a roadmap to unleashing the full potential within oneself. Vossoughi's compelling narrative challenges conventional thinking and inspires a mindset shift towards embracing change and taking control of one's destiny. Drawing from his own experiences, Arash Vossoughi has honed and developed clear methods that if applied, have the power to create the transformation that anyone seeking freedom desires. His journey of learning and development serves as a beacon, illuminating the path towards personal empowerment and the attainment of true freedom.
