A New Cultural Economy written by Gerfried Stocker and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Art categories.
""The age of copyright and intellectual property has reached its expiration date" - a development that already manifested itself in the technical fundamentals of the Internet has reared its head in the actual practices of a young generation of users and is bringing forth a new economy of sharing that clever business people are now taking to the next conceptual lever: a new cultural economy. With this provocative formulation, Ars Electronica 2008 is placing one of the core issues of modern knowledge-based society at the focal point of this year's festival program. Artists, theorists and experienced network nomads elaborate on these phenomena that now characterize our culture of everyday life: from angst-inducing scenarios of the annulment of intellectual property rights all the way to kicking back and going with the global information flow. So then - what status can intellectual property still have in an open knowledge-based society? And who's responsible for protecting intellectual property and establishing practicable rules?"--BOOK JACKET.

The present book is based on the author's diploma thesis written at the Institute of Media and Phototechnology University of Applied Sciences Cologne and describes the recent development of digital interactive art and the usage of the graphical programming environment Max/MSP/Jitter. In the beginning, a brief overview of the present scientific discourse on the key issues interactivity and interface design are given. Furthermore, it portrays exceptional examples of digital art within the past five years, focusing on the main themes of digital installations and software art. This is followed by a description of Max's main features and programming methods, its extensibility with control devices and micro controllers, as well as differences to important alternative graphical programming environments such as Pure data and vvvv. The second part documents the whole process of creating an interactive installation using Max/MSP and its graphics extension Jitter. This includes a description of the creative concept, the different parts of the soft- and hardware as well as some of their important key techniques. Finally, a summary of user feedback and a personal reflection on the project is given. The book is dedicated to both technicians and artists seeking an introduction to the present digital interactive art and practical information about the new emerging graphical programming techniques like Max or Pure Data for creating meaningful interactive systems.

Art + Science Now is a groundbreaking overview of the art being made at the cutting edge of scientific research. The first illustrated book in its field, it shows how some of the world's most dynamic art is being produced not in museums, galleries and studios but in the laboratory, where artists probe cultural, philosophical and social questions connected with scientific and technological advances. Featuring the work of around 250 artists from the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, the USA, Japan and elsewhere, it presents a broad range of projects, from body art to bioengineering of plants and insects, from music, dance and computer-controlled video performances to large-scale visual and sound installations. This comprehensive guide to contemporary art inspired or driven by scientific innovation points to intriguing new directions for the visual arts and traces a key strand in 21st-century aesthetics.
