Beyond fueling vehicles used for all kinds of transportation, oil and gas resources affect many other aspects of people's lives, through their use in medicines, plastics, detergents, and fabrics. This book examines how oil is extracted and transported through pipelines, including discussion of controversial processes like fracking and drilling in the Arctic. The political and economic impact of controlling these resources is critiqued, allowing readers to assess the role of different stakeholders. They will also learn about how alternative fuels, electric cars, and other new technologies can make oil and gas usage cleaner and more efficient.

The Language Of Machines Everything About Vibration Analysis written by Fahri YILMAZ and has been published by Fahri Yılmaz this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book is designed as a comprehensive resource for both engineers with field experience and interested engineering students. While it covers advanced engineering topics, no unfamiliar concepts are left unexplained. The goal is to provide in-depth technical information on vibration analysis while simultaneously providing a clear and fluent language that allows the reader to grasp the fundamentals of the subject. From an engineer's perspective, it may not always be possible to search for new literature or gather information from scattered sources in the daily routine of work; this book will fill an important gap by combining all the necessary concepts and modern approaches to vibration analysis in one resource. For engineering students, the book aims to lay a solid academic foundation while demonstrating the real-world application of theory through industrial application examples. This will allow students to better understand how the theoretical knowledge they learn applies in practice. The book encompasses technical topics that extend to graduate level, but the language is carefully designed to make complex mathematical expressions and engineering terminology understandable. Each chapter defines critical terms, and concepts are supported with visuals and examples when necessary. Throughout the book, real-world industrial case studies are included, aiming to provide readers with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical experience. Examples include how a generator failure at a power plant was diagnosed step-by-step by analyzing vibration data, or how a maintenance plan was developed by analyzing vibration trends at a petrochemical plant. Another important contribution of this book is its systematic compilation of current information scattered throughout the literature. Vibration analysis and condition monitoring technologies are rapidly evolving; in particular, digital transformation, the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), and machine learning-based analysis methods are becoming increasingly integrated into industry. The book will provide the reader with a perspective on future applications by addressing these new generation approaches as well as classical vibration analysis methods. Designed with a balance between academic integrity and industrial practice, the content is suitable for use both as a university textbook and as a reference guide for field engineers. Furthermore, summary points and references at the end of each chapter will direct readers to resources for more in-depth research on topics of interest. In conclusion, Vibration AnalysisThis book, on the subject, will be a comprehensive guide from theory to practice for engineers and engineering students. Upon completion, the reader will understand how to interpret vibration data, identify different types of failures from vibration patterns, and implement an effective vibration-based maintenance program in their own facility. The subsequent chapters of the book advance these objectives.

Migration And Conflict In A Global Warming Era written by Silja Klepp and has been published by MDPI this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-18 with Social Science categories.
This Special Issue explores underrepresented aspects of the political dimensions of global warming. It includes post- and decolonial perspectives on climate-related migration and conflict, intersectional approaches, and climate change politics as a new tool of governance. Its aim is to shed light on the social phenomena associated with anthropogenic climate change, as well as its multidimensional and far-reaching political effects, including climate-induced migration movements and climate-related conflicts in different parts of the world. In doing so, it critically engages with securitizing discourses and the resulting anti-migration arguments and policies in the Global North in order to identify and give a voice to alternative and hitherto underrepresented research and policy perspectives. In this way, it aims to contribute to a fact-based, critical, and holistic approach to human mobility and conflict in the context of political and environmental crisis.

Changing Times For Black Professionals written by Adia Harvey Wingfield and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-06 with Social Science categories.
This book is a study of the challenges, issues, and obstacles facing black professional workers in the United States. Though they have always been a part of the U.S. labor force, black professionals have often been overlooked in media, research, and public opinion. Ironically, however, their experiences offer a particularly effective way to understand how race shapes social life, opportunities, and upward mobility. As the 21st century continues to usher in increasing demographic, social, and economic change to the United States, it is critical to consider the impact this will have on an important sector of the labor force. In this book, I examine the reasons why sociological study of black professional workers is important and valuable, review the literature that examines their experiences in the workplace, and consider the issues and challenges they are likely to face in a rapidly shifting social world. The goal of this new, unique Series is to offer readable, teachable "thinking frames" on today’s social problems and social issues by leading scholars, all in short 60 page or shorter formats, and available for view on http://routledge.customgateway.com/routledge-social-issues.html For instructors teaching a wide range of courses in the social sciences, the Routledge Social Issues Collection now offers the best of both worlds: originally written short texts that provide "overviews" to important social issues as well as teachable excerpts from larger works previously published by Routledge and other presses.

Originally published in 1996, this work begins by considering the changes that have taken place in the social, political and economic environment of Eastern Europe as a whole and then concentrates upon the shipping market with reference to Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Hungary. A detailed model of the relationship between the shipping industry and the contextual changes that have occurred in the region in recent years is then developed before looking specifically at the liner shipping market of Poland and its market positioning within the context of competition in the North Atlantic and European Union operators.
